Biography

Mehmet Bodur has conducted his doctoral research focusing on fiber/matrix interface modification methods, the effects of environmental conditions, and the modelling of composite structures using the finite element method (FEM) for natural fiber-reinforced composite materials. His Ph.D. studies combined both experimental and numerical approaches, contributing to the understanding of interfacial behavior and structural performance of sustainable composite systems. In addition to his research activities in Türkiye, Dr. Bodur carried out part of his doctoral work at the Composite Materials and Engineering Center (CMEC) of Washington State University (WSU), United States, supported by The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK) under the 2214-A International Doctoral Research Fellowship Program. This international collaboration enabled him to expand his expertise in advanced composite processing and characterization techniques. Following the completion of his doctoral studies, Dr. Bodur was honored with the “2016 Istanbul Technical University (ITU) Most Successful Doctoral Thesis Award”, recognizing the scientific excellence and originality of his research. His current research interests encompass a broad spectrum of advanced material systems, including nanofiber production and characterization via the electrospinning method, additive manufacturing (3D printing) of polymer-based composites, and development and application of polymer nanocomposites. He also focuses on the production, surface modification, and performance evaluation of nanocellulose (CNF, CNC) and microcrystalline cellulose (MCC), aiming to enhance their compatibility and functionality in sustainable polymer matrices. Dr. Bodur has actively contributed to several TÜBİTAK, SAN-TEZ, and university-funded BAP projects as a principal or collaborating researcher. To date, he has authored and co-authored over 20 peer-reviewed international journal articles and has presented his research findings at numerous national and international scientific conferences. His scholarly contributions continue to advance the field of bio-based and nanostructured composite materials with a particular emphasis on sustainability, process optimization, and mechanical performance enhancement.
